WE BELIEVE IN CHANGE
From its conception in 2011, the DMV CSA’s mission has always been to address issues pertaining to culture, education and career development. By forming a parent organization for Caribbean Students’ Associations and other similar organizations DMV CSA has come to play a vital role in uniting Caribbean students in the DMV area.
The organization hosts staple events through out the school’s year with a social event in the Fall and the annual DMV CSA
Conference in the Spring; both events aiming at unity and development.
Over time, DMV CSA intends to increase the universities and organizations involved and to foster relationships with different companies to widen the networking possibilities for each student that participates.
OUR JOURNEY
DMV CSA has always had it as one of its focus to hold a Conference annually for its member organizations. To this end, the DMV CSA has had four successful regional conferences. The inaugural DMV CSA conference, “Legacy and Leadership: Turning Vision into Action”, took place March 2-4 2012 at the Double Tree Hilton in downtown Silver Spring, MD. Since then, we have hosted three more conferences at varying locations.
Our three-day conferences consist of an official welcome ceremony, panel discussions, speakers, a professional development session, enlightening breakout discussions, a talent show, and two social gatherings. Several Caribbean Ambassadors, dignitaries and professionals support the event every year. Some past Key Note and Welcome speakers include: the ambassador of Trinidad and Tobago: Honorable Neil Parsan, former ambassador of Jamaica: Curtis Ward and OAS Ambassador Albert Ramdin.
